MUSIC to your beers!
We continue on our mission to release the very best craft drinks we can imagine and create. Drinks that are crafted by hand, using only the best quality ingredients and often inspired by music and the beautiful nature of northern Sweden.
OUR BEER
Beer Studio is a microbrewery built inside a former garage in the city of Umeå in northern Sweden. When we started remastering old beer styles and mixing fresh new ones back in 2013 we promised ourselves we’d only ever make drinks that rocked our world. We’re proud to say we’ve stuck to that mission and stayed true to who we really are.

Sputnik Krisis Russian Imperial Stout
ABV: 10%
Replay Hells Lager
ABV: 4,5%
Loop Session Lager 3.5%
ABV: 3.5%

Monkey Mountain APA 3.5%
We’ve been monkeying around with the eye-catching New England IPA style to create this smooth drinking folköl version of our popular APA (American Pale Ale) that’s low on alcohol and bitterness and high on hop juice and fruity aroma. Brewed with flaked barley for a ‘craft cloudy’ look and smoother mouthfeel.
STYLE
Folköl (low alcohol)
INGREDIENTS
Mosaic, Azacca, Extra Pale Maris Otter, Carahell, Carapils, Flaked Barley
FOOD MATCHES
This cheeky monkey loves playing with food! Let it loose on juicy homemade burgers, cheesy pizzas and fish and chips!
ABV: 3.5%
Serving Temp: 6 – 8 °C

B-Side Brown Ale
In this hop-centric world we live in we wanted to create a beer where malts dominate for a change. This rich brown ale is packed with satisfying aromas of milk chocolate, caramel and coffee. A small addition of US hops are added late for a subtle layer of citrus and grapefruit.
STYLE
Brown Ale
INGREDIENTS
Northern Brewer, Amarillo, Pilsner, Maris Otter, Caramunich II, Munich II, Carafa I
FOOD MATCHES
It could be said the ‘B’ in our B-Side Brown Ale stands for balance! Chocolate, nuts, toast and toffee flavours play off perfectly against each other and can be paired with rich, ‘comfort’ foods like roast pork, smoked sausage and grilled salmon. And don’t forget nut and fruit-based desserts!
ABV: 6%
Serving Temp: 8 – 10 °C

Monkey Mountain APA
We’ve been monkeying around with the eye-catching New England IPA style to create this smooth drinking APA (American Pale Ale) that’s low on bitterness and high on hop juice and fruity aroma. Brewed with flaked barley for a ‘craft cloudy’ look and smoother mouthfeel.
STYLE
American Pale Ale (APA)
INGREDIENTS
Mosaic, Azacca, Extra Pale Maris Otter, Carahell, Flaked Barley
FOOD MATCHES
Monkey Mountain delivers the kind of big citrus aroma and hop juice flavour of an IPA but without the stinging bitterness. So it pairs well with grilled and roasted meats, sharp cheeses like aged English Cheddar and can handle the zing of guacamole!
ABV: 5%
Serving Temp: 6 – 8 °C

Loop Session Lager
Lager – one of the most refreshing beer styles out there. At Beer Studio we wanted to take things a step further, adding freshly grated lime zest to a modern mix of juicy citrusy US hops to give this lager its ultra-exhilarating edge. Easy on the eye and the ABV. With food or without. It doesn’t really matter. Because any time is #limetime.
STYLE
Modern Lager
INGREDIENTS
Columbus, Mosaic, Citra, Pilsner, Munich II, Melanoiden
FOOD MATCHES
Loop’s tangy citrus tones work brilliantly with Mexican dishes, herbed chicken, seafood (particularly battered fish) and hot dogs!
ABV: 4,7%
Serving Temp: 6 – 8 °C

Equalizer IPA
Equalizer IPA has got a score to settle with boring beer! Packed with hops and attitude this US-style IPA is a throwback to the days IPAs didn’t all look like fruit juice. But that doesn’t mean it’s not packing some serious fire power, and at 6.5% ABV it’s certainly a beer to be reckoned with!.
STYLE
US-Style IPA
INGREDIENTS
Chinook, Simcoe, Cascade, Citra, Pilsner, Carapils
FOOD MATCHES
Equalizer’s amplified hop aroma and bitterness really turn up the volume on flavours. With so much intensity it’s best to pair this IPA with dishes that can go toe-to-toe with it, such as Indian curries, Mexican burritos or thick steaks flashed on the BBQ. Thinking cheese? Safe bets are a sharp Cheddar or Parmegiano Reggiano, but if you want to take a risk try Equalizer together with a light and funky blue cheese!
ABV: 6,5%
Serving Temp: 6 – 8 °C

Replay Hells Lager
This beer is a replay of the classic German Helles (also known as Hells) style of lager, where a subtle layer of bready malt is balanced against a gentle addition of fruity European hops. Smooth, clean and classic. Enjoy Replay on its own, with friends and with a wide variety of food such as fish, chicken, pork and root vegetables..
STYLE
German Helles (Hells) Lager
INGREDIENTS
Northern Brewer, Hallertau Blanc, Nelson Sauvin, Pilsner, Munich I, Melanoidin, Acidulated
FOOD MATCHES
It would probably be easier to list the dishes Replay doesn’t go well with! Its light, bready malt character and refined hop profile means it’s a superb all-rounder, pairing perfectly with everything from pizzas and chicken salads to shellfish and Thai noodles. Or why take Replay back to its German roots and try it together with sausages and Bratwurst or pork schnitzel!
ABV: 4,5%
Serving Temp: 6 – 8 °C

Crossfade Sour Ale
Crossfading is a musical technique used to create a smooth transition from one sound to another. So why not apply the same idea to beer? We took a classic German sour beer style and faded it into a Scandinavian farmhouse ale, fermenting it hot with Norwegian Kveik yeast for loads of citrus and fruit flavours. We then added lactobacillus that’s commonly found in Berliner Weisse to give it a snappy, sharp, circusy sourness. Two different Countries. Two different cultures. One ground-breaking beer..
STYLE
A Scandinavian-style Berliner Weisse
INGREDIENTS
Pilsner, Munich I, Wheat, Melanoidin, Voss Kveik, Helveticus Lactobacillus
FOOD MATCHES
You’d think a beer that embraces radically different beer styles would be hard to pair with food, right? Wrong! But you have to be careful – Crossfade’s citrusy sourness can sometimes overpower foods that don’t measure up! So pair it with tangy, stinky goats cheese and stilton or sip it with creamy steamed mussels and parsley (after adding a splash of Crossfade to the pot first!)
ABV: 4,5%
Serving Temp: 6 – 8 °C

Little Bastard
When Bastard Burgers, Sweden’s coolest and fastest-growing burger restaurant group, wanted their own beer we knew it had to stand out from the crowd. With the help of graphic designer Marc Strömberg we created ‘Little Bastard’, a fun, colourful and ultra-modern lager crammed full of zingy US hops and freshly grated lime zest. Little Bastard is impossible to ignore and the ideal burger beer! Exclusively available at Bastard Burgers restaurants throughout the country..
STYLE
Modern Lager
INGREDIENTS
Simcoe, Mosaic, Citra, Pilsner, Munich II, Melanoiden
FOOD MATCHES
Pretty much anything from Bastard Burgers’ awesome menu! However we particularly enjoy it with ‘The Bastard’ (their classic signature cheeseburger) and the X-tra cheesy Luleå Vegoburger.
ABV: 4,7%
Serving Temp: 6 – 8 °C

Loop Session Lager 3.5%
This folköl version of our top-selling Loop Session Lager retains all the juicy hops and lime zest punch of the multi-award winning original. We’ve managed to dial down the alcohol to 3.5% ABV but kept all the intensity of Loop’s tropical fruit and lime flavours and aromas. This is what modern craft folköl is all about. Plus we’ve somehow pulled of the impossible by making this session lager even more sessionable! So now anytime can be #limetime.
STYLE
Modern Lager (folköl)
INGREDIENTS
Columbus, Mosaic, Citra, Pilsner, Munich II, Melanoiden
FOOD MATCHES
The slightly lighter mouthfeel of this 3.5% ABV folköl means it can be successfully paired with lighter, more delicate dishes such as summer chicken salads and grilled white fish. However because it is so cool and refreshing it can also be paired with hot, spicy dishes such as chicken wings and nachos with all the toppings!
ABV: 3,5%
Serving Temp: 6 – 8 °C

Mixtape IPA
Listen up! Remember the days when you recorded your favourite songs from the radio onto tape? Well this loud IPA is a compilation of some of our favourite hops, blended and mixed by the Beer Studio crew to create a beer jamming with pineapple and grapefruit notes..
STYLE
US-Style IPA
INGREDIENTS
Citra, Azacca, Simcoe, Columbus, Extra Pale Maris Otter, Carahell, Carapils, Wheat
FOOD MATCHES
Mixtape IPA can mix it up with lots of different food! The beer’s light crisp malt base and fruity hop vibe resonates wonderfully with the citrus bite of salmon ceviche. Want to spice things up? Then fast forward to Indian and Thai cuisine, where Mixtape’s carbonation cuts through oily dishes and refreshes your palate, while the spices are a hit with the tangy hops.
ABV: 5,6%
Serving Temp: 6 – 8 °C

Lo-Fi Session IPA
Lo-fi music was never about being perfect. It was about being edgy and real. Because sometimes in life it’s the imperfections that make things perfect.
We don’t claim this session IPA is perfect but we stayed true to ourselves when we brewed it, using the best raw, high quality ingredients to create a harmonic distortion of light malts and sharp, juicy hops. Unedited and unfiltered for the true taste of craft IPA. .
STYLE
US-Style IPA
INGREDIENTS
Mosaic, Hallertau Blanc, Pilsner, Carapils, Flaked Maise
FOOD MATCHES
Session IPAs are low in ABV but high in everything else! And because of Lo-Fi’s lighter, breezier body, there’s a high probability it will pair brilliantly with dishes that have more subtle and delicate flavours. So try it with Potato, Cesar or tuna salads. In fact Lo-fi is so versatile you can even pair it with ‘unpairable’ asparagus – ideally grilled and smothered in a smooth beurre blanc sauce.
ABV: 4,2%
Serving Temp: 6 – 8 °C

Sputnik Krisis Russian Imperial Stout
Sputnik was the first artificial Earth satellite that triggered the Space Race between the Soviets and USA back in the 1950s. Our tribute to the Russian Imperial Stout style orbits around the dark matter of rich chocolate, coffee, raisins and molasses. This is a beer that demands space and time. It travels the void between the accepted and the unearthly. Prepare for lift off.
STYLE
Russian Imperial Stout
INGREDIENTS
Northern Brewer, Extra Pale Maris Otter, Caramunich II, Flaked Barley, Roasted Barley, Carafa Special I, Carafa Special III
FOOD MATCHES
Due to the sheer gravity-defying power of Sputnik Krisis whatever flavours you launch against it better be big or they’ll be in danger of getting sucked into the black hole at the beer’s malty centre. So feel free to go umami-barmy with a slab of tender seasoned porterhouse steak or the smelliest cheese you can possibly cope with. This stout’s unworldly layers of thick chocolate, coffee and liquorice mean it also pairs seamlessly with rich, dense puddings.
ABV: 10%
Serving Temp: 12 – 16 °C

Our soda
In 2017 we branched out into the world of soft drinks with our alter-ego Pop Art Craft Soda, and now bring the same passion we have for uncompromising quality, experimentation and sassy style to our sodas and tonics as we do to our beers.
Loopy Lime & Ginger
Our first ever craft soda, made with limes, a hit of ginger and some spicy heat from US Citra hops!
Arctic Blueberry
In a world that likes telling us that more is better we like to think less can be more…..
Lingon Cream
There are few things that evoke the character of northern Sweden more than the delicious
lingonberries that grow wild everywhere in the region.
Loopy Lime & Ginger
Our first ever craft soda, made with limes, a hit of ginger and some spicy heat from US Citra hops!
Arctic Blueberry
In a world that likes telling us that more is better we like to think less can be more…..
Hibiscus Ice Tea
A collaboration soda between us and Dear Tea Society – two Swedish companies founded on
principles of transparency, sustainability and great flavours.
Cloudberry Grenade
The world’s first cloudberry soda and already a Swedish soda legend! Cloudberry Grenade
explodes with flavours of fresh cloudberries. A must-try for any true soda enthusiast
Åkerbär Craft Soda
A redefining taste experience. One of the world’s most luxurious and expensive sodas.
A must-try for any true soda enthusiast!
Mikkeller/Pop Art American Pale Soda
An alcohol-free soda designed to taste like a beer that we created together with legendary Danish craft brewer Mikkeller.
AC Craft Tonic
Our first ever handmade tonic, created with juniper, organic cane sugar and real cinchona bark for a natural golden colour.

Loopy Lime & Ginger
This is the soda that started it all off for us at Pop Art! With our roots in the craft beer industry
we wanted to make a non-alcoholic drink that fused the two worlds of craft soda and beer
together. The result is Loopy Lime and Ginger, made with a mix of freshly squeezed and
lime concentrate, organic cane sugar and grated ginger. We then add US Citra hops late in
the boil to extract their tropical fruit flavours without the bitterness. An amazing summer
refresher, or why not use it as a mixer to make your long drinks even longer…..

Arctic Blueberry
This 100% whole berry craft soda is bursting with the flavours and aromas of delicious arctic
blueberries picked in northern Sweden. We then add a touch of organic cane sugar and
beautifully clear, lightly carbonated water from Umeå. And that’s it. No tricks. No gimmicks.
What you see and taste is 100% real. After all, with ingredients this good why bother making
it any other way?

Lingon Cream
We only use only lingonberries picked in Norrland (northern Sweden) and add them to a
cream soda – a style of soft drink hugely popular in countries like the USA and Canada but
rarely seen here in Scandinavia.
Cream sodas are often intensely sweet and flavoured with vanilla to give them a rich,
creamy flavour and texture. By mixing in fresh, tart lingonberries we’ve created a drink that is
totally unique. It’s initially sweet but finishes dry, which makes it a great soda to pair with
food.

Hibiscus Ice Tea
First we made a smooth ice tea from a delicious blend created by the Dear Tea Society featuring
red hibiscus flowers. Then we mixed it with cane sugar to soften the slightly tart, berry-like
flavours of the dried hibiscus flowers. After that we lightly carbonated it to create a perfectly
balanced, naturally coloured drink that is healthy, invigorating and refreshing!

Cloudberry Grenade
Hjortrongranat (Cloudberry Grenade) is the brainchild of maverick graphic designer Marc
Strömberg, who not only dreamt up the recipe but also designed the amazing artwork and
his now iconic Cloudberry Grenade logo. In fact he liked his logo so much it’s tattooed on his
body!
Made with hard-to-find and handpicked cloudberries – known as the ‘gold of the arctic’ – and
mixed with organic cane sugar for a rounder, smoother sweetness, this is about as Swedish
a flavour as you’ll ever find. An absolute must-try for any fans of craft soda!

Åkerbär Craft Soda
Åkerbär Craft Soda is made with highly-prized handpicked åkerbär (wild arctic raspberries)
from the north of Sweden, which are so hard to come we only had enough to fill 1,800
champagne-style bottles.
The bottles, which were all filled by hand and feature classic-yet-contemporary label artwork
by celebrated Umeå artist Marc Strömberg, are as expensive as many bottles of decent
wine. That’s because åkerbär costs more than 4 times per kilo than the cloudberries we put into
our famous Hjortrongranat soda (and they aren’t cheap either)! We also had the berries cold-
pressed to extract the maximum amount of flavour and aromas.
A truly exceptional drink that redefines what soda is.

Mikkeller/Pop Art American Pale Soda
Our collab American Pale Soda with craft beer legend Mikkeller features white grapefruit and
mango juices to evoke the aroma and flavours of today’s US-style pale ales, while US
Azacca and Citra hops are added late in the boil to give the soda an added tropical fruit
dimension and mildly bitter finish. As with all Pop Art’s sodas only 100% organic cane sugar is used in responsible amounts, plus the amazingly pure water from Umeå. American Pale Soda is neither a traditional soda or a beer, but shares elements of both. It’s about offering people who don’t want to or can’t drink alcohol a credible, meaningful, delicious and fun alternative.
So now people can get their craft beer buzz – just without the buzz!

AC Craft Tonic
When our friends at Grannen Pub and Stadskällaren in Skellefteå came to us with the idea of
making a craft tonic for their amazing bar and shop we went all in! AC Craft Tonic (named after
the regional code of Västerbotten where we both have our businesses proudly located), is a
clean, crisp and balanced tonic that lets the gin (and other spirits) do the talking. We added
juniper, organic cane sugar and used real cinchona bark for a natural bitterness and beautiful
golden colour. All this added of course to the crystal clear water from Umeå and then
carbonated. And that’s it. No artificial nonsense. Just tonic made the way it was meant to be.
BEER STUDIO SQUAD
Oscar Brändström
VD, brewer and our very own King of Pop. Unbelievably born in a Swedish town even further north than Umeå.
Brendan Oxford
Brewer, punny, nerd, beer geek, web developer, Canadian.
Darren Packman
Beer geek, taster, talker, blogger. author and the guy that started Beer Studio.
John Isaksson
John was born, unbelievably, somewhere even further north in Sweden than our CEO
Oscar. In a place called Kalix that is so remote popping out to fetch the paper can take half a
day.

Oscar Brändström
Oscar is Beer Studio’s VD (that’s Swedish for Managing Director to the rest of us) and is arguably the most level-headed member of the Studio Squad. We put his no-nonsense approach to life down to the fact he was born and raised in Piteå – a city located even further north than Umeå where you’re bred as tough as steel in order to survive the endless months of freezing winters and pigeon-sized mosquitoes in the summer.
But break through his rugged northern exterior and inside beats the heart of a true artist! Oscar’s passions include music – he played saxophone in a rock band – and of course craft beer and soda. Oscar came to us after working as a brewer for several years at Nausta Bryggeri and now specialises in mixing up our craft soda recipes. He may be a rocker at heart but he’s Beer Studio’s very own King of Pop!

Brendan Oxford
In 2015 Brendan walked in off the street, said he wanted to brew here and never left! Originally from Canada, Brendan moved to Umeå to start a new life with his Swedish wife and while not brewing is busy studying the Swedish language so that one day someone may actually understand him.
Fortunately his talent for craft beer needs no translation. He simply loves everything about beer! Hobbies include coming up with bad puns and explaining to people that being Canadian is not, in fact, the same as being American.

Darren Packman
The founder of Beer Studio, a die-hard beer enthusiast and considered one of the most passionate figures in the Swedish beer industry today. Through his writing and beer events he continues on his one-man mission to shatter the outdated views about beer and let as many people as possible in on his secret – that beer is the most amazing drink on the planet!
Darren, a former journalist who moved from England to Sweden back in 2000, has worked with beer for 17 years and travelled the world educating people about it. In 2009 he started the BeerSweden blog which quickly grew to become Sweden’s most popular beer site. He is the Svenska Ölfrämjandets Guldpin winner for 2011 for his contribution to beer culture in Sweden and co-author of ‘Öl: Smakerna, hantverket, Stilarna’.
Darren is a veteran of hundreds of beer talks across Europe and America and delivers fast-paced tastings laced with English humour and crammed full of useful (and sometimes not so useful) facts and information. When he’s not doing something with beer he’s probably asleep.

John Isaksson
John stands apart from the rest of the Beer Studio Squad inasmuch as he’s the only person
really qualified to be here. Having studied brewing at Nynäsham for 1.5 years he’s now
bringing the science to our passion for creating craft drinks. And when we say science we
really mean it, as John originally moved down to Umeå to study Cognitive Science, which
(after we looked it up) means the study of intelligence and behaviour. Good luck with that,
we say.
When he’s not analysing everything John likes to play music to his wife and cat and is an
avid TV gamer. Even though he doesn’t own a TV.
